boo!

Today Charlie and I are celebrating Halloween together. We have a wedding this weekend, and we're going to Six Flags Sunday (yes!) so we figured today would be a good day to do it since the Halloween episodes of our favorite shows come on tonight. We're watching American Horror Story which is such a freaking CRAZY show, but I love it. I've actually screamed out loud while watching it, and I never even do that for scary movies! We're also watching The Middle and Modern Family.

To surprise Charlie I've set up a big blanket fort in our living room, bought Charlie a bucket of cheese balls (he always tries to buy one when we see them in the grocery stores and I never let him!), and I'm making some Halloween treats.

I plan on making "mummy dogs" and "swamp creatures" tonight along with some vegan chocolate chip cookies that Charlie loves.
Healthy, right?

Seriously, try these. You will never go back to a regular chocolate chip cookie again!
The Joy of Vegan Baking Chocolate Chip Cookies
4 1/2 t. Ener-G Egg Replacer
6 T. of water
1 C. non-dairy butter (Earth Balance)
3/4 C. granulated sugar
3/4 C. brown sugar, firmly packed
2 t. vanilla extract
2 1/4 C. unbleached all-purpose flour
1 t. baking soda
1 t. salt
1-3 C. non-dairy chocolate chips (I used Kroger brand dark chocolate chunks)

Preheat oven to 375. In a food processor whip the egg replacer and water together until thick and creamy.

In a large bowl cream the butter, sugars, and vanilla. Add the egg replacer into this mixture and thoroughly combine. In  a separate bowl combine the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually beat the flour mixture into the wet mixture until it begins to form a dough. Stir in chocolate chips. Bake for 8-10 minutes of until golden brown. Let sit for 2 minutes before removing from cookie sheet.

On a completely random note, I just found out that Trader Joe's is officially coming to the DFW area! Happy day!! Plus, to top it off H&M and Restoration Hardware are opening up literally 5 minutes from my house! These could be putting a ding in the ol' bank account this holiday season.

bedroom

Using the blue and green inspiration that I've found online I have finally figured out our bedroom plan (for real this time!). The best part is that I've found the fabric for my curtains and it has.... stripes!
These black and white curtains aren't the exact fabric that I found (mine aren't silk) but the stripe is about the same width. It's not at thick as I had originally wanted, but I still think I like it. I'm trying to decide now if I want to keep them vertical, or spend a lot of extra time sewing them into horizontal stripes. I'm supposed to take the fabric with me to Oklahoma in a couple of weeks to get help making them, so I'll make my decision then.
Ta da! I just need to order the pillows and headboard and we'll finally have a complete room!

First of all, happy birthday to me :) I'm excited to see the surprises Charlie has in store today! Here's what we did this weekend:

ae

I haven't stepped foot inside of an American Eagle store since high school, but after reading this month's issue of Real Simple and seeing quite a few sweaters that I liked, I paid a visit to their website and was impressed. I remember that stupid eagle logo used to be on every. single. piece. of clothing, but now it looks like that has changed so I may be giving it a second chance. I mean, $30 for a pair of jeans? Yes, please.
Ok, so I'm going to go off on a small tangent about faux fur vests. 1) I've been contemplating the purchase since last year, but never followed through because I was pretty sure I couldn't pull it off. 2) While at Anthropologie yesterday I held up a faux fur vest and asked Charlie "what do you think about this?" There was a long silence and he stared at me waiting for my usual "ha ha ha, just kidding," but when he didn't get that response, "are you serious?" came out leading me to believe that I, in fact, can not pull this off. We'll see ;)

china

Charlie and I didn't register for china, mostly because we figured that we'd never use it, but also because it all looked so granny-ish. I've reconsidered though, after finding this casual china from Kate Spade and Jonathan Adler  . It's casual enough for every day, but also nice enough for company. We totally love our dishes from Crate&Barrel, but I'm thinking it would also be nice to have a fun option. One of these sets is going on my Christmas wishlist!

Love the layered look of the Kate Spade "Wickford" Sea Cliff collection

design love

I'll admit that I'm a total sucker for the Rachel Zoe project, and while catching up on all the episodes yesterday I saw the most beautiful hotel room ever! I did a little online sleuthing and couldn't believe I actually found it - The Crosby Hotel in SoHo. Love!
Check out those chairs!
My absolute favorite room. I never in a million years could have pulled this together, but I LOVE it!
So many things I'm loving about this. Hot pink walls and velvet tufted sofa, the buffet, the fabric on the wing back chairs, and of course, those lamps!
