red, white, and blue party

The Fourth of July has always been one of my favorite holidays. My Dad's birthday falls the day before, so we always celebrated the two together. I think this time of year reminds me of being a kid in the summer and having family over for a party and summer cook out. Sadly, we all now live in different parts of the country and it doesn't happen very often anymore. When it does though, I'll definitely be using these red, white, and blue party ideas for inspiration.

instagram updates

It's been awhile since I've posted instagram updates... so here you go!

I stumbled upon the best 4th of July dress at the mall
Nerded out at a local rock store and picked up some stones for my DIY Anthro core bottle stoppers
More rocks that I added to my collection

DIY neon pink plant pot, and the cutest little tree for our guest room
I finally framed my pink and gold paper (also for our guest room).
 Laking it this weekend
Reads and hot pink mani for a day in the sun.
The Texas heat is here to stay
This place has the best, best, best fried green tomatoes and remoulade you will ever eat. Period. The end.

dining room progress

Before. This was taken when we first moved in.
Work in progress!
We cut down our bar height table, and I ordered new chairs last night.
These are the chairs I ordered for the table
I'm going to sand and paint our bar stools so they look like this
barstools
and I'll finally be purchasing this pillow to go in the ghost chair!
After this, I'll hopefully be able to say that we have one room completed in our house!

roswell, NM (road trip pt. 4)

Roswell, NM was the final stop on our road trip. Here are a few pictures from our day:
Alien Zone. A hot, stinky place you can use to take pictures with aliens.
This was the sweetest little guy at the Roswell zoo. He came right up to the gate so you could pet him.
Free train ride. I'm pretty sure it was for kids, but that's OK.
Free carousel ride. Of course we had to!
Spacewalk. Definitely that coolest thing we did in Roswell.
Our road trip buddy (and Toby's new toy).

Good news: I'm down three pounds on the first week of my diet, with only 7 more to go!
