living room sofa, maybe?

If you've been reading my blog for awhile then I'm sure you know that we've been trying to decide on a sofa for our living room over the past two years, and still haven't been able to take the plunge. It's getting to the point that even Charlie is ready to see our sofas go, so he decided to take off of work yesterday and we set off on a mission to find a new sofa. We've had our eye on this one from Crate & Barrel and this sectional from West Elm, and I think we were able to make the decision yesterday. This weekend we'll hopefully be purchasing....
the Jackson Sectional from West Elm. It's not as comfortable as the Crate & Barrel choice, but the ability to switch the sectional from left and right and it's smaller size is what has us sold. Hopefully I won't be reporting on Monday that we've backed out on our decision ;)

I'll also be spending my entire weekend sanding down and repainting the desk for our guest bedroom that I mentioned in this post. I can't wait to see how it turns out!

  2. We've only had it for a few months, but so far we're pretty happy with our purchase.

Pros: High quality fabric, cleans well, it's very easy to switch from right to left, and it's a good size. My husband, dog, and myself can spread out on it and still have room.

Cons: The cushions are pretty firm, so if you're looking for a soft couch, this isn't it. I don't even notice anymore, and I still think it is comfortable. My husband also tends to sit in the same spot on the couch, and after a few months it is starting to show with a slight indentation. The cushions are designed to fit only one way, so there isn't a way to rotate them to even out the wear.

    Hope this helps!

  3. I found your blog while looking for reviews of the jackson sectional. I ended up reading about a year of posts!
Can you tell me which fabric you chose for your sectional? I was on the fence, but after seeing it styled in your space, think I'm going to get it!

    1. Hi Erica! I'm glad you found me :) We chose the standard linen blend fabric in fawn. It's a light grayish color. I hope you like it, we love ours!

  4. Do you ever have trouble with the ottoman piece separating from the sofa, or does it attach somehow? Love your blog! :)

    1. The ottoman does not attach to the sofa. You just slide it right up to the side you want. We have ours on carpet, so we've never had any problems with it moving away from the sofa.

  6. Hi Stacy - great blog! My husband and I just bought this sofa online but weren't able to see it in store as it was out of stock. My main concern is how the three back cushions will hold up with everyday use. Do they lose their square/edgy shapes? I am afraid they will lose their shape and the whole couch will look old (rather than smart). Yours is the only review on the sofa that I can find online so if you could post another photo on how it's holding up, that would be fantastic!!

  7. I love the drawings behind the sofa.

  8. I second the request for an update of this nice review! How is the sofa holding after 2 years of use? As for you, size and versatility make this the ideal sofa for our apartment but the fear of the sofa loosing shape is there in our mind. In the store, it felt pretty soft! Thanks!

  9. Hi, I'm also very interested in this sofa and can't find any other real reviews. What's up with that West Elm? So are you still happy with your purchase?

  10. I, too, have the Jackson sofa and I'm relatively unhappy with it. The marled microfiber fabric is pilling and is certainly not very durable.
