my goal

Charlie was out of town for the past three days to partake in bachelor party shenanigans for one of his best friends. This meant that I spent the last three days as a hermit, only emerging to pick him up from the airport. Normally, I hate staying inside with nothing to do, but I actually kind of enjoyed it. I got a lot done around the house, watched copious amounts of reality tv, and did a lot of thinking about my life and what I want to do with it (more on that another time). 

One of my projects was to organize all of my pictures by year the way I did my mom's in this post. It was hilarious to look back at old photos from my childhood (don't worry middle and high school friends, I'll spare you the embarrassment), but it also made me realize how much freaking weight I've put on in the past few years. I maintained my weight pretty well up until my senior year of college, and then I guess age and the stress of school, student teaching, moving, getting married, etc., etc. took its toll. You may remember that a couple of months ago I was working to lose 10 pounds. I managed to lose 9 1/2 over the summer, and then school started back and my life got crazy again. I was terrified to stand on the scale for the first time in almost two months, but luckily I somehow only managed to gain 1 pound back (seriously, it's a miracle considering all that I've eaten and my complete lack of exercise). Anyway, I'm tired of looking and feeling the way I do about myself, and have a goal to lose another 20 pounds. So, I'm going back to weighing in every Monday and sharing my progress (or lack thereof) along with any good recipes that I find. I'm sure that not many of you care about this, but blogging about it every week helps keep me somewhat accountable :)
