2013 recap

2013 has definitely been a life-changing year for me. I can't wait to see what 2014 has in store! Here are a few of the highlights:

January: I started my year off with this quote as my inspiration. I never dreamed how far it would take me!
February: We took a road trip around DFW and I officially made the decision to quit my career as a teacher and go into interior design.
March: We celebrated 11 wonderful years together.
April: Our living room, bedroom, and dining room were featured by West Elm.
May: We moved into our lovely new home.
June: We celebrated two years of marriage!
July: I made my dream job happen and began taking on interior design clients.
August: I got my first sister-in-law!
September: I went back to school for interior design,
and welcomed another sweet sister-in-law to the family.
October: I celebrated my 28th birthday,
and joined Kufri Life Fabrics as a stylist and marketing assistant.
December: I completed my first semester of design school with a 4.0, and had the most wonderful Christmas holiday to date!
Bring it on 2014!

Next week I'll be sharing a few of my goals for 2014. What are you most looking forward to in the new year?

christmas home tour

I can't let the season go by without sharing some photos of our place decked out for the holidays!
This view every day makes me so happy. You just can't be in a bad mood with colorful twinkle lights.
I made both of these wreaths for less than $20, when I found something similar I loved for $50/each!
My new favorite ikat pillow from Kufri Life!
Glitter on top of glitter - it's why this is my favorite time of the year.
Have you posted your home decorated for the holidays on your blog, instagram, or twitter? Make sure to share a link in the comments - I'd love to see the fab spaces my readers have put together for the holidays!

look for less

It's no secret I'm obsessed with the Robert Abbey Delta Lamp. I've blogged about it here, here, and here (and probably a lot more).

If you love this lamp like I do, but don't want to fork over the $167 + for it... REJOICE!
I've found this Diamante Lamp from Lamps Plus for a budget friendly $80!

instagram updates

Wow, last week was a doozy. I burned my eye with a steamer (I mean, really???), my car broke down, and we had our first ice storm of the season. Basically, anything crazy that could happen... did. All while I'm up to my eyeballs in school work and working double time to get the new Kufri Life Fabrics website up and running! Thankfully Friday and Saturday we were iced in and I was able to get an obnoxious amount of things done. I also took an annoying amount of cute dog pics. Enjoy!
This is what happens when southerners expect an ice storm. We act like the world is ending!
When the tree skirt I've been lusting after from Furbish sold out, I decided to take matters into my own hands and sew up my own version. I'm sort of obsessed with the pink pom pom trim!
My fabulous Anthropologie throw arrived just in time for the storm. I spent most of my weekend staying cozy under this baby.

pillow styling for kufri life

I mentioned in yesterday's post that I started a new job as Creative Stylist and Marketing Assistant for Kufri Life Fabrics. Here is a little sneak peek at some of the styling I've done for our new website and lookbook coming soon!
All of the fabrics are authentic handwoven Indian ikats and the core collection is hand printed on 100% cotton, so lots of love went into making these fabrics fabulous! Be on the lookout for the new e-commerce site to go live. I will announce it here on our Twitter page

ALSO, tomorrow I'm announcing my BIG black Friday and Small Business Saturday surprise! See you soon!

instagram updates

You might have noticed my absence on the blog and social media lately, most of it is because life got a little crazy after my birthday. Out of control school work, I lost a very special person in my family, and I started a new job. As you can imagine, it was A LOT to take in. Thankfully things have begun to get back to normal and I have some time to share a few instagram updates!
I started a new job as Creative Stylist and Marketing Assistant with Kufri Life Fabrics (more on this in tomorrow's post)! You can catch me on our new Twitter and Instagram accounts!
I've been hard at work styling pillows for our new e-commerce website coming soon!
I completed a quick design project where I helped a client pick fabric for her office. It's going to be totally fabulous.
Another Prada, Marfa portrait was sent away to its new home. Stay tuned later this week for a very special Small Business Saturday surprise!
Trimming the tree with my new pom pom ornaments from Anthro. Obsessed.

geode + crystal party decor

We all know I have a thing for rocks and crystals (see here and here), so when these ideas popped up in my Pinterest feed I did a little happy dance.

I'm happy I didn't think of this idea for my own wedding (read: $$$), but I think I'm going to try it out for a little dinner gathering soon!

friday finds

If there is anyone out there in the market for a new coffee table, I've found an amazing deal on this handwoven beauty from Anthropologie.

It's so unique and colorful, and at its current price of $49.95 (was $498) it's an absolute steal. Snatch up this find before it's gone!

look for less

A couple of weeks ago when everyone was asking me what I wanted for my birthday I couldn't think of much, but now after my birthday has passed I'm able to think of a hundred things I want. One of those things is this fabulous "it's ok" banner by Etsy seller SecretHolidayCo.
It reminds me of this "let it go" banner that I've been eyeing from School House Electric, but just couldn't justify the price tag.

on my radar: painted ceilings

Some designers swear by painting the ceiling a different color than the walls, and I have to agree with this philosophy. I'm particularly fond of the combination of cream walls and ceiling painted in the lightest shade of blue.

What do you think? Would you paint your ceiling a different color than your walls, or do you prefer to keep them the same color?
