pink and turquoise mermaid nursery

Awhile ago I worked on an e-design board for a nursery, and since this sweet little girl is due at any moment, I thought it would be the perfect time to share! She had an idea for a pink and turquoise vintage mermaid theme, and sent over some artwork and other pieces that she had in mind for the room's inspiration. Using these items I put together this design board. Isn't the whole idea so unique and adorable?
She shared these after pictures of the space, and it makes me so happy to see these designs come to life. I especially love e-design, because it gives you direction on where to go with the design, but also allows you to add your own personal touches to the space.
Can we all agree that this turquoise chandelier is everything!?
Congratulations, Ashley. You're going to be a great mama!

I will be sharing a very exciting announcement on Monday, and hope to have another completed e-design project post soon. See you then!

mmmMon...Thursday

Our computer is back in business, so here is the recipe for baked falafel that I wanted to share with you on Monday. Have you ever had falafel? I hadn't tried it until recently, and now I'm obsessed.
I'm back on my diet so good ol' fried falafel is out of the question. Luckily I found this super easy recipe on design conundrum that I decided I needed to try. I'm glad I did, because I especially love how these came out crisp and brown from the oven. You definitely don't miss out on any of that crispy falafel goodness by not frying these.

I had pretty much none of the ingredients to make her lemon tahini garlic dressing, but I'm sure it's amaze. I just threw mine on eensy Trader Joes pitas (full disclosure: I bought these only because they were cute, they aren't that great!), added a little hummus and diced tomato, and had a simple, filling dinner. My only suggestion is to be pretty liberal with the salt and pepper. I wasn't and they definitely needed more. The recipe makes quite a few of these little nuggets, so I've been snacking on the leftovers by dipping them in hummus... so good!

Do you have a recipe for falafel that you love? If so, please share :)

small space living

I'm excited to share this design board that I've had the opportunity to work on. The apartment is located downtown, so we didn't have a lot of space to work with. Living in a few small spaces myself, I know you have to get creative with design to make it stylish and functional. It's a little challenging, but it can be done!
In this particular apartment there isn't enough space for a dining area or accent chairs, so we have decided on a console that will go against the wall with coral ikat x-benches that will nest underneath. This provides an area that functions as a bar, dining table, and extra seating in one small space. The coffee table also provides additional storage without taking up any extra room. I'm sort of in love with this design and now I want it in my own home!

instagram updates

I had originally planned to share a yummy recipe with you today, but our computer with Photoshop is on the fritz, and I have to wait until it gets fixed later this week so I can edit the photos. Until then, here are a few instas from this weekend!
I made a little cotton ball banner to celebrate our two year (cotton) anniversary.
Received some lovely flowers from my man, plus he sewed me (yes, hand sewed) an adorable calendar in our wedding colors with our wedding date to look like our save the dates. I'm also getting curtains which will finally finish our decor!
I can never get enough of this sweet face.
I took a trip to HomeGoods and scored the BEST geode bookends. I walked away without this guy, but am going back for him this week. He's cute and creepy at the same time and I think I need him.
I'm dying over these agate wind chimes. Really, anything agate/geode is my jam.
I normally despise any art you find at mass retailers, but I think this one might be pretty in our bedroom.
We were offered a free brewery tour and tasting from Deep Ellum Brewery, and duh, we totally took it!
We discovered a wonderfully cute tex-mex spot in our neighborhood. They lined the patio with patron bottles filled with twinkle lights. Nothing is better than a margarita under twinkle lights. Nothing.
Our art for above the sofa has arrived. I need to raise it a little, but I'm in love!
How was your weekend?

anniversary two

Happy two year anniversary to my forever. I can't believe how fast time has gone by!

Year 2 is the cotton anniversary. I'm excited to see what I get, especially after Charlie nailed the paper anniversary last year.

swan

Can I just talk for a minute about how much I'm obsessed with these inflatable swans? I'm so tempted to purchase, but then I'm pretty sure everyone at our pool would hate me for bringing a giant swan to lounge in. Anyone have a private pool they want to invite me to? I promise to share my swan!

living room sneak peek

As promised, here is a little sneak peak into our new living room. A lot has stayed the same, but I've also switched quite a few things up. It's not quite finished - we're still waiting on drapes and artwork to arrive, but it should be done by the end of the month when I will share more pictures.
I thought things would be moving a lot more quickly since we already have all of our furniture and most of our accessories, but I'm finding we still have a lot left to buy to get things the way I want them. I'm trying not to rush and buy things just to be finished, and I'm making sure I really love something before forking over the cash. Our current garage full of furniture we're not using is my motivation, as I am guilty of doing this in our last apartment!
Also, can you tell I have a black thumb? I can't keep a plant alive to save my life. I stopped by Home Depot this morning to change these out, we'll see how long they last before they become the most recent victims of my lack of plant care skills.

instagram updates

If you follow me on instagram (@stacyandcharlie) you've probably noticed a lot of road trip photos... sorry :) We went to Austin for a few days to see one of our favorite bands, Mumford and Sons, and decided to make a mini-vacay out of it. Here are some of the highlights!
Toby's first road trip. So excited!
At the hotel they gave Toby a little treat bag, bandanna, and a toy. It was so cute!
We stopped by West, TX on our way down to pick up some of their famous kolaches.
We also drove by where the fertilizer plant exploded earlier this year. My heart is hurting for these people. There are still rows and rows of houses that look just like this one. Because it was not a natural disaster they are not receiving FEMA assistance to help them rebuild. If you're interested in donating, this is the official agency endorsed by West where 100% of your donation will go to the relief efforts.
I think our favorite thing about this trip was getting to take Tobias with us at every meal. So many pet-friendly restaurants in Austin!
This concert didn't come close to their Red Rocks concert we attended last year, but we had amazing seats and it was still pretty darn good.
We had to stop at the popular "I love you so much" wall, and had lunch here before we left.
These beautiful sunflower fields were all along the highway on our drive back. The colors were so amazing we stopped for a quick photo.

2// Spring Potpourri Necklace (was $36, now $15)

father's day gift ideas

If your Dad is anything like mine, they are incredibly hard to shop for. My Dad isn't your typical guy who goes golfing, sits in front of the TV, or wears ties to work, making the whole gift giving thing quite difficult. He loves to be outside and in the sun, so here are some Father's Day gift ideas I've rounded up that you can hopefully use for your not-so-stereotypical Dad.

summer favorites

I just found my new go-to summer favorites, and thankfully they're both easy on the wallet.
These sunglasses look exactly like Ray-Bans, but at only $10 you don't have to worry about breaking them (like I always do), and this is my new favorite dress. It is crazy comfortable and fits so well I purchased it in every color!

Bring it on, summer!

homegoods finds

I popped into HomeGoods the other day to look for an over-the-door hanger. What I didn't leave with... an over-the-door hanger, but I did get a load of good stuff on the cheap (all for $10 or less!).
Love this decanter that I found for our new bar in the dining room.
I found this colorful basket that will go in the entry to hold all of Toby's things. This was definitely my favorite find of the day.
This skull candle holder isn't my normal style, but it was calling my name and had to come home with me.
I've been looking for a good way to store my jewelry without everything getting tangled. This pink chevron tray held everything perfectly and it fits into a drawer out of sight.
I've been on the lookout for a colorful birdhouse, but everything I found was crazy expensive. I scored this bright green one for $10!
This bin reminded me of my favorite La Fiorentina fabric, and it works great to store items in our linen closet!

color crush: lilac

Ever since finding this dreamy color combination, lilac has been on my mind. I have never used purple in my decor before, but it is definitely happening soon.
I'm contemplating trying it out by painting our bedroom misty lilac by Benjamin Moore. I think it would look pretty fantastic with our grey trim, navy and white bedding, and pink lamps.
What do you think?
