instagram updates

Oh so many things have been happening around here.
Last week I got the opportunity to volunteer with Dwell With Dignity and help paint for their upcoming Thrift Studio!
Found these awesome fabric elephants while I was waiting to pick Toby up from the groomer.
Went to a lovely backyard rehearsal dinner for my brother-in-law and brand new sister-in-law!
Her fab wedding table decorations.
Their first dance. Aren't they the cutest? Also, please notice my handsome hubs strumming the guitar in the background ;)
I snuck this sweet picture of my in-laws during the reception.
And I can't share pictures without putting up one of this guy...

I'm almost finished with an e-design project that I'm excited to share. Stay tuned!

on my radar: fall interiors

If you're anything like me (and every other person according to instagram/twitter updates and pinterest posts) the chill in the air has put you in the mood to light a pumpkin-scented candle and decorate for fall. My favorite thing to do to update my home for the chilly weather is to pull out the faux fur throws and trade out my bright sofa pillows for more neutral tones.

When I used to live at home, we even changed out our bedding for the fall and winter. I haven't done that in ages, but I'm thinking a nice plaid blanket might be in order for the foot of our bed. What do you do to get your home ready for fall? I'd love to hear!

pantone top five

I always get excited when the top Pantone colors are revealed, but I can't get enough of the choices for Spring 2014 . I think they all work especially well together, but I'm finding myself drawn to the top five colors over and over again.

on my radar: color and pattern combinations

Last week I talked about how I'm being drawn simple, neutral interiors for the fall.  Designer Miles Redd is completely opposite of the neutral trend, but I still can't get enough of his fearless color and pattern combinations.

I could stare at these rooms forever taking in all of the different elements and how they work so well together. I have a thing or two to learn from Mr. Redd!

homegoods finds

I stopped by HomeGoods yesterday, and found some good stuff for a dining room design I've been working on.
This settee is exactly what we've been looking for, and at a crazy good price.
I'm thinking a collage of rope mirrors for this dining room as well.
Fell in love with this chinoiserie lamp, but unfortunately I don't have a place for him.
They had a ton of these huge chalkboards for only $30! Still debating if I should go back for this one...
Love these in a dining room or entryway.

on my rader: neutral interiors

We all know I love a good pop of color, but right now I'm being drawn to simple, neutral interiors. Here are some of my favorites:

As soon as I think I'm finished decorating my home I always seem to find a new style to love and want to start over completely with my decor. For the sake of my marriage, I won't be doing anything drastic :) I still love color, but I'm dying to design someone's home in this color scheme!

bedroom reveal

I can finally check our bedroom off the to-do list! It's pretty similar to our room in our last apartment, but I added a few more details like a sitting area, pom-pom curtains, and a new bookshelf.
Remember when I was deciding on a ceiling fan? I love the one we chose.
These curtains might just be my favorite thing in here. My wonderful mother-in-law helped me put these together.
We added some colorful knobs to update our Ikea dresser. We're eventually going to replace this, but I'm waiting to find something I really love.
I used this mirror to try to hide an ugly breaker box. I've never seen one of these in the bedroom, especially in the middle of a wall! #designprobs
I added a cute little bookshelf to fill in this open space, and it also gave me a spot to display some of our pretties.
Our laundry room is also complete and will be revealed on Hillary Thomas' blog soon!

instagram updates

I had four days off for labor day, and I used a ton of the time finally getting our house ready. My schedule is about to get pretty crazy, so I knew if I didn't finish the projects now, they would have to be put on hold for a few months.
Our laundry room makeover is finished. My favorite part is this hanging planter. The number one piece of decorating advice I give to people is when in doubt about what to do with a space, add a plant! It always makes the space look better. Seriously, try it.
I also finished our bedroom this week. Be sure to stop by tomorrow for the full reveal.
While out shopping for school supplies I couldn't help but fall in love with this coated polka dot fabric. I'm imagining it on the table for a wedding/baby shower or maybe even as a fun, photo booth backdrop for parties!
