on my radar: kevin russ photography

I recently discovered the photography of Kevin Russ, and I'm absolutely obsessed with his work. I love how the colors are muted, but rich at the same time. I had a hard time narrowing down my favorites, but here are a few that are on my list of artwork to purchase for our new home:

forest green + a new "man cave"

I've been brainstorming ideas for Charlie's "man room" and I keep finding myself drawn to deep, forest green walls. This color is totally different than what I normally gravitate towards, but I'm up for the challenge. Last week I shared where I'm incorporating this color into the upholstery of a project I'm working on, and I'm totally ready to try it in my own home!

Choosing the right color for the walls is going to be difficult, because this green can go wrong so quickly. I've been looking at Shamrock and Evergreens by Sherwin-Willams and Chopped Chive and Painted Turtle from Behr. These are all totally different from each other, and the furniture we decide on is what is going to help make the final decision. I'm almost 100% sold on this sofa for the room.

There will definitely be some Eames Lounge Chair action, along with a wall of his guitars, lots of wood, and major pops of gold.

I also found this fab photography on Society 6 (my new obsession) to add with our other Marfa prints.

I can. not. wait. to see how it turns out. Who knew I'd get so excited for a man room!

living room reveal

I've been waiting to share our living room until I had everything just the way I wanted it, but seeing as how we're going to start packing up to move in the next month, I figured it's not worth putting any more time or energy into styling this apartment. These are a few photos of our living room as it is now. I had planned on switching out the pillows, adding a neutral Moroccan pouf in place of the current footstool, and changing out the coffee table - but I've decided to wait until the move to purchase these.
Once we make the move be on the lookout for posts of our new living room!

fab outdoor furniture

Yesterday we had our home inspection, and today we have our pool inspection. So far all I can see is $$$ going into a bunch of stuff that no one can see, but safety and peace of mind matters more to me than a pretty living space. Even with all of the repairs that will possibly have to be completed, I've been picking out our paint colors and getting busy planning the remodel (I'll be posting more specifics later this week). We're pretty excited to have a pool, and since this was not something we were originally looking for, it feels like a little bonus. I've never had a large outdoor space to design, and I'm just as excited about the outside as I am the inside. Here are a few of my fave selections for outdoor furniture:
1| Swingasan Chair and Stand from Pier1
2| Sandskar Tray Table from IKEA
3| Pom Pom Beach Umbrella from Bellamee
4| Acapulco Chair from CB2 (I've wanted one of these since our visit to Marfa)
5| Ciudad Chaise from Pier1

And you better believe you'll be finding one of these floating around in the pool!

on my radar: navy velvet sofas

Take a look at my Pinterest boards and at any given time you can see right away what designs and colors I'm craving for my home. Right now I'm all about lots of white, gray, and navy. I'm especially finding myself drawn to living rooms with navy velvet sofas. Years ago I wanted one for our living room, and even after all this time I've still got them on my brain.
One of my all time favorite rooms by Bailey McCarthy features a to-die-for navy velvet sofa. I absolutely love this combination with the coral window trim (sound familiar?), and of course that fab vintage Louis trunk.

Once it comes time to make our furniture plan, you bet I'll be scheming up a way I can incorporate one of these babies into our new home!
