navy and coral

I talked last week about how I think indigo and navy will be a big color trend this year (sorry, Radiant Orchid), but I also believe coral will be making it's comeback. While navy and coral can be a bit difficult to pair together well, I think these two rooms nail it on the head.
What do you think of combining navy and coral together?

home update

One of my New Year's resolutions was to blog more, so I'll be sharing a few more snippits of our apartment around here. It's only taken me about six months, but I'm finally working on decorating our bathrooms. I just got in this fun runner from RugsUSA, and scored this pink woven hamper from HomeGoods. I'm still deciding on towels, and the artwork is moving to my office, but I'm liking how it's turning out!
BUT! I have some very exciting news to share. We've finally decided that we're going to stay in Dallas for a few more years and have started the first part of the process to buy a house (heellllooo, bucket list)! Even though we're in the very earliest of stages I already have Hicks Pendants, dreamy breakfast nooks, and fabulous baths on my brain.

gifts for your valentine

Can you believe that it's almost the end of January? I've already started planning out this year's 14 Days of Love for Charlie (look for it on the blog starting February 1st), and I put together this gift guide so you can get a head start on shopping for your valentine.

1| bkr glass water bottle
2| Furbish red otomi print
3| Waiting on Martha spots matchboxes
4| Biscuit Home pink heart bobbi
5| Ban.do hair elastics

If cupid decided he would like to bring me a few of these goodies for Valentine's Day I wouldn't hate it... hint, hint my valentine ;-)

dallas market color trends

Last week, Mili and I got together and checked out the trends at the Dallas Home and Gift Market. What we found was just as we have been predicting... lots and lots of indigo!

Navy and gold in the Global Views showroom.
Still loving the gold starburst hardware that I spotted during my last visit to market.
Indigo kantha throws from Vintage Vagabond.
We spent a ton of time eyeing all of the good stuff in the Codarus showroom.
I've put together a decor guide for you to bring a little of the indigo trend into your home!
2| Furbish Studio Blue Geo Teapot
5| Crane and Canopy Navy Blue Border Duvet

on my radar: vintage and antique bars

The home bar is back in a huge way. Instead of using a cart, creating a bar from an antique piece brings an unexpected and charming touch.
I'm obsessed with this peachy wall color (It looks a lot like the color in our laundry room). Those brass fixtures are also pretty dreamy.
I love the idea of displaying a collection of vintage decanters.

Do you have a bar in your home? If so, how do you style it to make it unique?

30 before 30 bucket list

In October I turned 28 and sort of freaked out that I'm slowly creeping out of my 20's and up into my 30's. Something about 30 seems so "adult" and serious, like I should have my shit together by this point. I'm on the right track, but I've been creating this running list of things I want to see, do, and accomplish before I hit the big 3-0! Some are big goals, others are quite silly, but they are all things I'd like to have happen in the next few years.
1) Learn how to do my own handy work (installing light fixtures, sewing drapery, re-upholstery)
2) Take a road trip to Canada
3) Take Charlie on a surprise trip to Ireland
4) See the Northern Lights
5) Own a car that I really love
6) Get a room I've designed featured on a major blog, online magazine, or in print. (January 2014)
7) Finish my degree in interior design
8) Grow my design business to a full-time job
9) Hire at least one employee
10) Open a curated online shop
11) Learn how to garden and keep my houseplants alive
12) Commit to finding a house I really love and buy it
13) Completely redo and update my own home
14) Lose these last 15 pounds and reach my goal weight
15) Travel to at least 3 new places a year
16) Make a real difference in at least one person's life
17) Volunteer at least once a month
18) Win an award
19) Score a really amazing vintage piece on the cheap
20) Get skilled at taking vintage furniture and turning it into something fabulous
21) Be in NYC for the Rockefeller Center tree lighting or the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade
22) Learn to manage tasks in small pieces to keep from getting overwhelmed or stressed out
23) Learn to cook one really fantastic go-to meal, and cook at least 3 times a week
24) Anonymously help out a complete stranger
25) Rescue another dog (and a cat for Charlie)
26) Have at least one year's worth of expenses in savings
27) Continue networking and attend at least one large blogging or design event (High Point, ALT, etc)
28) Run a 1/2 marathon
29) Continue to get professional photographs to celebrate our wedding anniversaries
30) Learn that less really is more

home office update

As promised here's a little peak into where I work every day. I did a little update a few weeks ago, and now I love being in here.
I've filled this area to the brim with little things I love, as well as lots and lots of plants.
I still have this waste bin on my wish list. Who knew a place you put your trash could be so chic?
I'm not completely done with our guest bedroom, but when I am I'll make sure to post the finished product. I'm still waiting on our luggage rack and guitar hangers to arrive, as well as few pieces of art that still need to be framed. I'm also changing out this lamp, but haven't found "the one".

west elm feature

I'm very excited to announce that our bedroom has been featured on page 7 of this month's West Elm catalog! You can also view it online here
It has been on my bucket list to have something I've designed featured in print... check!

instagram updates

It's been quite awhile since I've done Instagram updates! Here are few highlights:
Had a wonderful time volunteering for the ASID Holiday party at the Renaissance Collection Showroom.
Reluctantly put away all of my sparkly Christmas decor.
Hit the after Christmas sales hard - J.Crew gets me every time!
Commissioned Charlie to hang drapes in our living room, and added a new chair to this corner.
Totally cleaned out and updated my office area. I'll be sharing this update on the blog soon!
I'm obsessed with the light in our apartment. I especially love the constant sunlight in our dining room. It's where all our plants are living during the wintertime.
Did you see these amazing chairs we got reupholstered in our Samarkand ikat fabric? I can't wait to see what the person who buys these does with them.
Experimenting with new colors and combinations for our Spring fabric collection!
So much going on, and so little time before school starts again! This week we're doing an exciting photo shoot with the Dallas Morning News. Follow us on Instagram for a sneak peek!

on my radar: woven wall hangings

I've really been loving all of the beautiful woven works of art I've been seeing lately.
Some of my favorites can be found by Minna, All Roads, and HeddleAndNeedle. I'm also feeling inspired to make my own using this DIY by Cali Katrina. This looks strangely familiar to weavings I made in 4th grade... so I think while it may take some time, it shouldn't be too difficult. I'm going to stock up on yarn today and get started so that I can hopefully finish before school starts again!

hip hip hooray!

Hello! I hope you had a fabulous New Year's. I always love seeing January 1st show up on the calendar. I love the feeling of a fresh start and it's such an exciting time to set goals and imagine the possibilities for the future.
I'm spending all day today setting goals for myself and my business over the next year. I'll be sharing soon!
